the korean experience, part 2

Chelsea in Daegu, kids in tow, wouldn't you know? All things pretty, funky, cultural, different, feet stomping, heart pumping, what the heck? splag and all that, add some coffee nonsense to that cinnamon twist. Oh, and glimpses of our daily lives as seen through pictures, videos and interesting finds... won't you enjoy the ride with us?

Permalink Easter starts with some fresh bread and some fun goodies for the kiddos. On the agenda: car trip to Goryeong for fresh strawberry picking! ~~^^
Permalink We popped in at a nearby hair salon to get our hair done today. I couldn’t help but chuckle when I noticed the owner’s apron while she was cutting Zynia’s hair: It read, “Be passionate in your life so that you can make professional touch.” Just gotta love English grammar in Korea!
Permalink This is what I get for working late: bumper to bumper traffic on the way home!
Permalink Beautiful day Friday, leaving work: Cherry blossoms galore!
Permalink We had us some octopus dinner last night. Momma wasn’t in a great mood (Could’ve used a beer!) Can’t believe this meal for 4 adults +4k kids’ meals cost near $120 smacks!
Permalink Two passed out kids at 7pm. Been sleeping since 4ish and they both have been on meds for ear infections for the past 1~2weeks. I think it’ll be a looooooong night! (at 장기동 초록나라APT)
Permalink Some little girl decided it was better to study than to nap at school today~ zonked out at 6:20pm. Gonna be a late night I think.. (at 장기동 초록나라APT)
Permalink Frozen blueberries. At least it’s a good, healthy addiction…even if Ayden’s lips keep turning blue!
 (at 장기동 초록나라APT)
Permalink You know you’re in Korea when: you sit at a coffee shop preparing/studying lessons you’ll teach, and 2 male college students come in and share a drink. Hmmm. What do you think? ~’^^ (at Yeungjin College)
Permalink Zynia’s favorite 이모(auntie), hanging out together this past weekend! (at 장기동 초록나라APT)
Permalink Putting together a visual daily checklist for the kiddos: a morning and an evening routine. Kids get 1,000₩ (about a dollar) when they complete the morning routine (dad’s duty). In the evening, they earn smiley faces for every step they complete, and for listening/not fighting—which can be redeemed for weekly ‘treasure box’ grabs, movie/tv time on weekends, and special rewards. I have to say I appreciate my parents even more because it took (and takes!) so much effort to organize, plan and continually strategize ways to raise well-mannered, disciplined, successful kids!~^^ (at 루머팡)
Permalink Only in Korea: people do couple shirts, pants, shoes, so why not do ‘couple backpacks?’~^^ lol (at 대구시내)
Permalink While waiting to have new guitar strings put on my Dean~~My Krispy Cream donut was gone before I could capture it on camera!
Permalink This is truly a Korean dinner…we got 밥 (bab: rice), 국 (guk: soup) and 김치 (kimchi : fermented/pickled cabbage), and lots of 반찬 (side dishes)…and I forgot a few in the fridge! :)~~^^
Permalink Ice cream for the princess after ‘eye-shopping’ for a new teacher’s trenchcoat at Hyundai Dept. Store (just couldn’t imagine paying $360 for one coat with 2 kiddos~even though I *am* stinking rich! lol~^^) (at 현대백화점 (Hyundai Department Store))
